How we calculate
A TV size in inches is the diagonal of the screen. On a widescreen (16:9) the width is 0.8716 times that diagonal: a 55 inch TV is about 122 cm wide. Add about 2 cm of frame. We pick the largest common size that still fits on the stand.
If the TV stands on feet at its sides, you really need the full width. With a stand in the middle a slightly bigger TV works, but it sticks out. Check the depth too: the stand must sit fully on the cabinet.
